The Rest of Us Just Live Here

Hey again,

So this week I'm going to talk about "The Rest Of Us Just Live Here" by Patrick Ness. Some of you may know Patrick Ness from his Bestselling books "The Chaos Walking" series. I have not actually finished the first book but I really like it so far. So I recommend those ones as well.

"The Rest Of Us Just Live Here" is a story about a senior in High school called Mikey, a completely normal kid who lives in a town where nothing is normal. Mikey suffers from what the readers assume as an anxiety disorder, causing him to continuously count the edges of anything he has in front of him that have sides. He counts these continuously as his way of coping and calming down, like other people count to 10. Mikey is the only boy in his family with two sisters, Mel, a repeat student and Meredith, the fiction version a 1Directioner. Together with his best friend Jared, descendant of the mountain lion goddess and Henna, the unrequited love of his life, Mikey and his friends try to make it to graduation alive, and preferably with the school still intact.

In all honesty, I finished this book much faster than any other, including Harry Potter. I was hooked after the first paragraph. The book opens every chapter with what is going on around Mikey, this includes all the weird supernatural stuff that all the "Indie kids" are involved with. You know those super hero movies, like the Avengers, well the people who are just standing around while the super heroes actually do all the work, that is what this book is all about. People who have no idea what is going on around them.

I'm quite bad when it comes to judging a book. I read the blurb and the first page and make a decision then to see if I want to continue reading it. I also go online to see the reviews, like you do when wanting to check out a movie. Goodreads is one of the most reliable (well to me anyway)book reviewing sites I have come across. I also use it to check out any new books that I may like. According to Goodreads, The Rest of Us Just Live Here was rated at 3.8/5. that is quite good. Again I am very judgy so anything that is under 3, I will not read. I also use Amazon.co.uk as I order most of books from there. Amazon gave it 4 stars and I quite agree with that. It was an amazing book. The book is priced at £5.59 which is around 7.50 euro.

Well that's all today!I hope you enjoy the book!
